Wow...Egypt is amazing. Between Cairo, Luxor, diving on the Red Sea, and finding the best disco on earth...perhaps the single most interesting place I have ever been. Karnak Pillars. Luxor.
Katie and the Great Pyramids. Wow. By the way, did you hear the one about the stupid white tourist from Berkeley who paid $100 to climb the great pyramid!?! :)
Walk Like an Egyptian. Valley of the Kings. With a Silicon Valley T-Shirt and a baseball cap from Kosrae, Micronesia. :) And we wonder why American tourists get such a bad rap? :) Valley of the Kings, Part 2.
Monica in El Gouna. Coincidence can be amazing. We each independently booked trips by ourselves to the Red Sea, the same week...and found out one day before we left that we had a mutual best friend in London. We have a great time, and decide we want to go dancing the last night. We find the BEST disco on earth, five minutes from our hotel, and in the middle of NOWHERE. Fifty people there, and at 2am, one of her friends from high school walks in the door with his fiancé! They had been sailing around the world for 18 months, and decided to drop by Egypt. Dancing with a group of friends, underneath the stars (the disco, while incredibly furnished, and with all the right furnishings--cages, a pyramid with the sound and lights hung off it, marble terraces with throw cushions--had no ceiling!!!), with the sea breezes rolling over us, to one of the best dance mixes ever...wow. |
